This work presents a systematic analysis of the psychological phenomena associated with the concept of mental representations — also referred to as cognitive or internal representations. A major restatement of a theory the author of this book first developed in his book (Imagery and Verbal Processes), this book covers phenomena from the earlier period that remain relevant today but. The Visualizing and Verbalizing® (V/V®) program develops concept imagery—the ability to create an imagined or imaged gestalt from language—as a basis for comprehension and higher order thinking. The development of concept imagery improves reading and listening comprehension, memory, oral vocabulary, critical thinking, and writing.
That is, imagery and verbal processes are basically separate processes that integrate in the full reading experience. The purpose of this study was to further these findings through an intensive analysis of imagery and verbal variables in the reading of a complete literary work. Visual thinking comes in many forms, but in every case, it is hard work. It may involve the derivation of a new image that connects others, or the manipulation of an image that needs to change. In.
The dual coding theory (DCT), according to Paivio, suggests that visual and verbal information act as two distinctive systems. It has had its roots in the practical use of imagery as a memory aid years ago For example, one can think of a car by thinking of the word "car", or by forming a mental image of a car. With the use of both imagery and verbal interventions to activate the entire fear memory and to identify, challenge, modify, and reprocess the recurring traumatic imagery and abuse-related beliefs, a more adaptive schema is created. The authors compre-hensively describe this treatment program, offering step-by-step procedures for each by:

Based on recent experimental evidence, the conceptual approach in a sense represents an integration of prebehavioristic and behavioristic views concerning the nature of thought.
Verbal thought processes were usually regarded as auditory images of words or as proprioceptive sensations from implicit verbal responding, or both, and occasionally as visual images of words. Images of nonverbal objects and events, on the other hand, usually implied visual imagery because of the dominance of visual sense experience, but nonverbal events obviously could involve other modalities Author: A.
